Seller Policies and Marketplace Standards
Operational and conduct standards that every Shopville shop must follow to keep the marketplace accurate, safe and fair.
Accurate shop and product information
- Keep shop identity, contact, grievance, tax, payout and dispatch details current.
- Describe the actual product, condition, materials, size, quantity, customisation, lead time and limitations clearly.
- Show the genuine selling price and lawful discount information; do not use fabricated list prices or scarcity claims.
- Keep variant-level inventory accurate and mark unavailable or material-constrained products out of stock promptly.
- Do not manipulate search, reviews, ratings, orders or buyer communications.
Prohibited and restricted products
A shop must not list illegal, unsafe, recalled, counterfeit, infringing, stolen or deceptively represented goods. Products requiring a licence, registration, prescription, age check, safety certification or special transport may be listed only when Shopville supports the category and the shop has all required approvals.
Shopville may request documents, samples or testing information and may remove a product while reviewing a safety, authenticity or legal concern.
Mandatory declarations and product safety
- Provide package and online declarations required by Legal Metrology rules where they apply, including manufacturer or packer information, generic name, net quantity, MRP, month and year information, country of origin and consumer-care details.
- Provide warnings, ingredients, composition, care, warranty, expiry, batch or licence information required for the product category.
- Maintain traceability and promptly report safety incidents, regulatory notices or recalls.
Orders and fulfilment
- Accept orders only for products and variants that can be fulfilled within the stated processing time.
- Use protective, lawful packaging and an approved delivery method with valid tracking when available.
- Do not substitute a product or materially change customisation without the buyer’s clear agreement.
- Promptly notify Shopville and the buyer when fulfilment is at risk and follow the cancellation or refund process.
Consumer support and grievance handling
Use the named grievance contact to acknowledge a consumer complaint within 48 hours and redress it within one month. Respond sooner where a return, cancellation, safety or delivery issue needs urgent action.
Keep sufficient records of the complaint, response and resolution, and cooperate with Shopville. Do not require a buyer to waive statutory rights or remove an honest review as a condition of support.
Buyer data, communication and off-platform conduct
- Use buyer information only for fulfilment, support, legal compliance or another lawful buyer-requested purpose.
- Do not add buyers to marketing lists without valid, separate permission.
- Do not pressure buyers to pay or resolve a Shopville order outside approved platform processes.
- Keep communication professional, non-discriminatory and free from harassment or misleading claims.
Enforcement
Shopville may warn a shop, require corrections or evidence, limit visibility, cancel affected orders, remove content, reserve payouts, suspend selling or terminate an account. The response depends on severity, recurrence, buyer impact, cooperation and legal risk. Urgent safety, fraud or legal issues may require action without advance notice.
