Seller Privacy Notice
How Shopville collects, uses, shares, protects and retains personal and business information from shop applicants and sellers.
Separate from marketing
Onboarding data is used to evaluate and operate the seller account. Accepting seller terms does not subscribe a shop contact to optional promotional messages; any optional marketing choice is handled separately.
Information we collect
- Account, identity and contact information, including owner and grievance-contact details.
- Business, address, PAN, GST, registration and compliance information and supporting documents.
- Bank and payout-destination information, which may be masked in normal account views.
- Listings, orders, messages, support requests, performance, risk and dispute information.
- Device, browser, IP address, login, security and electronic-acceptance audit records.
Why we use it
- Create, verify, review, secure and administer the shop account.
- Publish shop and product information and enable orders, support, refunds and payouts.
- Prevent fraud, enforce marketplace rules and protect buyers, shops and Shopville.
- Comply with tax, accounting, consumer, payment, court and regulatory obligations.
- Improve platform reliability and seller tools using proportionate analytics.
Who receives information
Shopville shares only the information reasonably needed with payment and banking partners, identity or compliance verification providers, delivery providers, cloud and security vendors, professional advisers and public authorities where lawful. Buyer-facing shop, grievance and product disclosures may be published where marketplace or consumer law requires them.
Shopville does not sell seller personal data. Providers must process information for authorised purposes and protect it under contract or applicable law.
Retention
Draft information may be removed when an application is reset, subject to security and backup cycles. Agreement acceptance, verification, transaction, payout, tax, complaint, fraud and dispute records are retained for the period reasonably needed for the contract, legal obligations, claims and audits. Data is then deleted or de-identified where feasible.
Security
Shopville uses access controls, encryption or masking where appropriate, audit logging and provider safeguards. No system is completely risk-free. Shops must protect credentials, limit internal access and immediately report suspected compromise.
Choices, corrections and grievances
A shop may review ordinary profile data in its dashboard and may request correction or another available privacy right through the Contact page. Protected identity, compliance or payout records may require verification and cannot always be changed directly. Some information must be retained despite an account-closure request where law or unresolved transactions require it.
The Contact page is the current channel for privacy questions and grievances. Shopville will update this notice and the contact channel as additional Digital Personal Data Protection Act obligations become applicable.
Changes to this notice
The current version and effective date appear at the top of this page. Material changes affecting existing shops will be communicated through the shop account or another durable notice. A contract change that requires renewed agreement will use a separate acceptance prompt.
